When describing a property, words such as special, impressive and outstanding are, in my opinion, over used and very often an exaggeration of the truth (known as artistic licence). In the case of this property I have to say that I need no artistic licence and anything written in the following description will probably still not get close to describing the passion for quality, engineering and excellence that have come together to make the home that is "Long Acre"...
The following description is more than a regular agency description and is in fact a compilation of information gleaned from the vendors who designed, specified and oversaw the building of this, their 'very unique' dream home.
The property is approached from the road via a private driveway which leads to the gated entrance. The gates open to access the large tarmacadam driveway and tree / shrub bordered and landscaped gardens giving access to the impressive residence with its triple integral garages.
The Plot & Location:
Hidden away from view, this very private location gives complete privacy whilst the location gives ease of access to some of Wales / Britain's best beaches, 3 highly regarded golf courses, parks, walks and publicly noted schools (Bishopston Comprehensive school, which was voted by the Times as the best in the UK, is just two bus stops away). The location also gives ease of access to Swansea City Centre as well as the wider geographical location via the M4 (15 minutes). Singleton Hospital and Swansea University are also just minutes away by car.
The Plot extends to near 3/4 of an acre in size, is fairly level and has space to add additional accommodation or potentially a pool / leisure facility (subject to planning) should a purchaser so wish.
The House: circa 5000 sq. foot in total.
Constructed in 2004 using the highest specification materials and fittings which are too numerous to mention, but including Welsh slate, handmade bricks and finial, a bespoke Mark Wilkinson hand finished kitchen with premium appliances, underfloor heating throughout and a Smart integrated vacuum system.
From the driveway, the house is approached via a covered porch-way giving access to the 'wider than average' front door with stained glass sidelights. Enter the...
A light and airy 'two directional' space with a pale neutral coloured limestone floor. You are immediately exposed to the quality of the property with its oak skirting boards, architraves and imposing oak staircase. The doors are all feature doors and open to the various spaces that make up the home. There are two lateral custom designed stained glass windows within the stairwell at the foot of the stairs.
Comms / Cloak Cupboard:
Space for shoes and coats but also home to the hub of the communication / security system for the house. The house is Cat5 wired from this point throughout.
"I've seen smaller shower rooms". Fitted with a quality vanity basin with mirror over and a back to wall WC with concealed cistern. Half tiled with attractive border and feature coving. Window to rear patio area.
Main Reception Room:
Entered via double feature doors, dual aspect with box bay window to the front elevation and twin windows to the side elevation which frame the feature fireplace with its raised stone mantle, glass shroud and living flame gas fire. Like all ground floor accommodation, the room has perfectly finished fine plaster walls and ceilings with feature coving. The room currently also benefits from a Bose surround sound system with a wall mounted plasma television.
A sunny tri-aspect room with French doors to the front elevation and windows to the other two, (including deep side bay). This light and airy room is a great family room and affords views of the garden on 3 sides.
Accessed from the hallway but also open to the garden room. Window to rear elevation overlooking the raised patio area and beyond to the rest of the garden. Step down to...
The natural slate tiled floor and exposed brick feature walls give way via two pairs of French doors to the rear patio / alfresco dining areas whilst the area is also open with step up to...
Kitchen / Breakfast Room:
"Truly the hub of the home". This is a wonderful family space which is beautifully finished with a Mark Wilkinson hand-crafted sycamore and walnut fitted kitchen with contrasting black granite work surfaces including central island with feature breakfast seating area and corner larder. The extensive premium appliances include integral oven, integral microwave, hob with feature canopy hood, American-style fridge/ freezer, integral steam oven and integral dishwasher. A door leads to the rear patio and barbeque area.
Internal door to...
Inner Hall / Lobby:
Also accessed from the hallway and giving access to the rear door, storeroom and...
Fitted with a range of base units with contrasting work surfaces and feature double Belfast sink / mixer tap. Washing machine as well as a full height clothes dryer / airing cabinet (I have never seen one before but what a great idea for the coats when coming back from a rainy day on the sea front / beach).
Back to hallway...
Stairs to First Floor:
Wide galleried landing with study / reading space (overlooking the driveway) and access to all rooms plus first floor access to the annexe and access door to the balcony with views over the garden and bay beyond.
Bedroom Suite one:
Situated to the front of the house with dual aspect (windows front and side).
Feature en-suite with Porcelanosa glass basin and matching mirror, Jacuzzi bath and separate oversized Jacuzzi shower with head and body power jets. Complimented with feature tiling and back to wall toilet with concealed cistern.
Bedroom Suite Two:

Study / Office / Bedroom:
Large double / triple family bedroom with window above the garages overlooking the driveway. Feature exposed brick wall.
Bedroom / Living Room / Gym:
Originally designed as the gym, with exposed brick walls, window to rear elevation and doors to shower room and separate WC.
Back to Annexe landing...
Tower Lounge / Bedroom:
This space gives a truly unique and inspirational view and afford views of almost the whole of the Swansea Bay. The owners advise that this is a great place to sit and watch the weather rolling in, fireworks and the spectacle that is the Swansea air show when you have an unrivalled view of the aircraft coming in off the sea.
The integral triple garage is accessed by the rear pedestrian door from the rear porch as well as three specially imported thermally insulated vehicular garage doors. Not any old garage, this area also houses the central vacuum system and generator which, should there ever be a power cut in the area, allows you to separate the property from the national grid.
Accessed via the rear porch area and home to a large gas-fired boiler commensurate with the size of the property and which feeds the underfloor heating to all floors.
The gardens benefit from being sectioned and being multi-use. There are outbuildings that include a large purpose-built half-brick construction greenhouse with adjacent garden toilet and tool store.
There is also a large African-style roofed 'Breeze House' for barbecue dining, market garden area, sheds and an area currently used for badminton / shuttle ball / recreation but which would be ideally suited to the addition of a pool area (Subject to planning).
The house sits well within the plot and affords full access to all sides. Designed to be a family / entertaining home it will not disappoint and I truly hope that this description will encourage those looking for a premier home in a premier location to come and experience the house for themselves...
